Heat generation, erosion, abrasion – the profile surfaces of wheel discs are subjected to enormous stresses every day. To prevent small defects from having a major impact, they must be inspected regularly. This is the only way to determine the condition of the component, detect any damage and take countermeasures in good time.

Thanks to state-of-the-art laser technology, optical measurements are carried out within thousandths of a millimeter and with high repeatability. The precise matching of measuring unit and wheel set is of decisive importance here. The stationary measuring device is used to measure various geometric parameters on wheel discs while the train moves slowly over the installation. In this way, the condition of the wheels is continuously monitored and preventive measures for necessary repairs can be derived.

The wheelset measuring stand is designed for the measurement of disassembled rolling stock and locomotive wheelsets. The aim of the measurement is the final dimensional inspection of each finished wheelset or a preliminary measurement of individual wheelsets. The coordinate measuring machine has a special design and is equipped with an optical laser measuring system.

The axle measuring machine was developed for quality control of the geometry of railroad axles. It is used at the axle manufacturer or wheelset shops to check the condition of axles and also to qualify diameters for mating with wheels, bearings, gears, etc.
